• Social Media and the digital world are becoming the way for people to get information and stay in touch with the world around them. It is a way for businesses to get their messages out there for people to see. Since it is becoming such a big part of daily lives, you want to make sure your content is being seen and that people want to continue to see it. Here are some things to keep in mind when it comes to content creation:

  • Make a Schedule: Schedule out your posts so that you can keep your posting consistent. Whether you want it to be once a week, or several times a week, scheduling can help you stay on track and make sure you are not forgotten. Be sure to remember big holidays! Hootsuite is a great example of a tool to keep your posting on track.

  • Pay Attention: Know who your audience is. If it is your intended target market, you want to make sure your content aligns with who your audience is so that they will understand what you are posting and be able to relate to it.

  • Write for Your Audience: When you establish who your audience is, make sure your content is relatable to them. They will not be interested in reading something they cannot relate to or find interesting.

  • Follow trends: Pay close attention to what is trending in the digital media world. Everyone wants to be a part of the latest trends, and this can spark new ideas for great content.

  • Content Curation: All of your content does not have to be 100% original. You can backlink other content (always giving credit to the original source/owner of course) that aligns with your brand and/or message.

  • Make it stand out: Use bold colors, fonts, add humor. Make it so that your audience wants to keep coming back for more. Whether it is a blog post or a picture you put on Instagram, if it stands out among the rest, it is more likely to be seen.

  • Remember Readability: Dependent on who your audience is, use language that they will understand. Avoid jargon and words that may not be known. You want to make it easy for them to read and understand what you are saying.

  • Visual Content: People love seeing pictures. If a post has visual content attached to it, it is likely to be better received than a post that is all words. You can find free stock photos at places such as Unplash or Pixabay and use Canva to edit or create posts as well.

  • Write with Purpose: Don’t just write to write. Make sure there is meaning behind what you are writing. Write to your audience not at your audience. Make it relatable and understandable. It may also be easier to write too if you write with purpose.

Now that you have these suggestions, go and create some great content! Remember though, it helps to have a trained eye look at the content you create to make sure the message it appropriately received by your audience you want.
